K-pop sensation Lisa’s first-ever performance at the Met Gala turned combustible the instant she stepped onto the red carpet, igniting a social media firestorm and The White Lotus.
On Monday night, the 28-year-old Blackpink actress made her eagerly awaited debut at the 2025 Met Gala. She wore a custom Louis Vuitton outfit that nearly instantly provoked criticism on social media.
The ensemble, which appeared to be inspired by this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” included a sheer lace bodysuit, branded tights, and an embroidered black blazer that left very little room for interpretation.
Her embrace of the pantsless trend wasn’t the cause of the commotion, though; rather, what people saw inside the lace sent X (previously Twitter) into a tailspin.
When you zoom in, you can see that the cloth surrounding her lower body has graphic lace designs that resemble faces. Many fans were certain that one of those faces was none other than Rosa Parks, a civil rights icon.
One person claimed, “It’s kind of crazy that Rosa Parks was on your underwear less than three months after a compilation of you using the N word went viral, but maybe that’s just me.”
“Who the hell thought it was a good idea to put the faces of influential black women on a pair of pants?” exclaimed another.
