All around the country — Outside Cleveland, Ohio’s Ben Franklin Elementary School, a 10-year-old girl was physically abused by a USPS employee who was captured on camera while still in uniform.
The incident happened shortly after the end of the school day in September of last year.
A number of procedural errors caused the matter to remain unresolved for months in spite of unambiguous video footage and a police report that described the confrontation.
The young girl said that while walking to her school bus, she was first attacked by another student carrying a book bag.
According to the report submitted by an officer with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) Police Department.
She went on to say that the student’s mother, a USPS employee, physically intervened to intensify the situation.
According to the officer’s report, the girl’s head struck a nearby tree after the mother pushed her to the ground and called her a disparaging name.
Despite identifying several possible offenses, such as assault, child endangerment, delinquency of a minor, and criminal conduct on school property, the officer did not make an arrest.
And the USPS employee’s name was concealed because no formal charges were filed, according to Cleveland 19 News.
