According to ABC 7, Jamie’s treatment venue, the University of California in San Francisco, is ‘the only hospital on the West Coast’ that does the life-saving procedure.
In 2023, she told the news outlet, “It’s an implant pump, and they fill it with a medicine with a very large needle.”
When ABC 7 reconnected with Jamie last year, she disclosed that she had undergone seven operations, 180 rounds of chemotherapy, and “probably about 60 to 70 scans.”
In a more recent update, Jamie said that she is ceasing all treatment and is now receiving hospice care from her home.
She said, “It wasn’t a difficult decision,” to avoid more chemotherapy. “There were no treatment options that were working and the chemo was making me sicker so I couldn’t recover.”
Jamie is encouraging people to be screened for colon cancer because of her health issues. When a person has no symptoms, this test is used.
