“The possibility of a shark attack is always present,” McMurray stated.
“I think exposure would have probably happened and he might have died from it if something like that did happen, maybe a single bite or something like that, but again, you can’t say because anything could happen.”
“Either he sank or a shark ate his body, that’s possible.”
“There are many tiger sharks there, and they’ll scavenge,” he continued.
“They will eat anything because they were the ones in Jaws that had the license plate tag in their stomach.”
“There’s always a chance that he was consumed after the fact.”
It is ‘possible’ that his remains could be found, he admits, but it is unlikely.
“It would be almost impossible to recover,” he added.
“You’re talking about a huge search area with currents and everything,” I said.
