In 2012, while traveling through Zambia, Australian Erin Langworthy decided to try her hand at bungee jumping from a bridge that overlooked the Zambezi River.
Which is notorious for its crocodile population and powerful currents.
Her bungee line broke in midair, sending her tumbling 360 feet into the rushing waves below, turning what should have been an exciting event into a horrific one.
When the cord broke way, Langworthy fell into the ocean, as shown in social media footage.
As the river dragged her downstream, Langworthy struggled to keep afloat against the strong current.
She miraculously made it through the fall and the possible danger of predators hiding nearby.
When the cord stuck on rocks, she reportedly had to free it and swim with her feet tied together.
After being pulled out of the river by a bungee firm employee, she was taken to a hospital in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
Langworthy was put on a ventilator and given medicines to avoid infection after her fall, which happened at 5:30 p.m., but she didn’t get to the hospital until 11:00 p.m.
Concerned about the tainted water she had consumed, medical personnel treated the young woman for injuries, including partially compressed lungs, and kept an eye on her status.
Thankfully, the results of the X-ray showed that she had no broken bones.
