The star’s obituary reads, “Mr. Trebor’s talent, humor, energy, and enthusiasm will be greatly missed by all who knew him, most especially by his wife,” according to PEOPLE.
In order to prevent confusion with fellow student and playwright Robert Schenkkan, he acquired his stage name—his first name spelled backwards—while still in college. He was born Robert Alan Schenkman in Philadelphia on June 7, 1953.
Before graduating from Northwestern University in 1975, the late actor was a creative force in his early years, producing and directing short films, writing music, and writing reviews for Scholastic magazine.
In order to pursue acting, he relocated to New York, where he appeared in plays by Shel Silverstein and made his film debut in Gorp in 1980.
Despite having an impressive resume that spans decades, Trebor is most known for his role as Salmoneus in 20 Hercules episodes from 1995 to 1999, along with four more appearances in Xena: Warrior Princess.
