The men were placed in separate facilities while awaiting sentencing.
Prior to his court appearance, Abdisalam Mohamad was reportedly being held at HMP Pentonville.
However, he quickly learned that even among other offenders, those convicted of crimes against minors are often targeted within the prison system.
As soon as his fellow inmates learned of his conviction, Mohamad became a primary target.
Within two days of being imprisoned, a group of angry inmates took matters into their own hands, attacking him.
A video recorded inside the prison showed Mohamad being assaulted and forced into a toilet. According to Metro, the footage was widely circulated.
In a small restroom, the group first struck Mohamad with a cable while forcing him to remove most of his clothing. The men were heard ordering him to comply before directing him into the bathroom.
Mohamad was then pushed face-first into the toilet bowl as another inmate encouraged the attack.
As other prisoners held him down, Mohamad struggled to breathe. He was heard pleading before being subjected to further mistreatment.
Fortunately for Mohamad, the ordeal eventually ended. He was later taken for medical attention, though the incident did not result in any life-threatening injuries.
