China has undoubtedly resisted the US economic strategy.
In addition to the two rounds of 10% tariffs that were already announced in February and March, Trump imposed an additional 34% duty on Chinese imports as part of “Liberation Day.”
Lin Jian, a spokeswoman for foreign affairs, recently denounced the US as well, stating that this was detrimental to their relationship.
“Putting the US above international rules is a typical act of unilateralism, protectionism, and economic bullying,” he told reporters.
“The best way to deal with China is not through threats and pressure. China is determined to protect its rights and interests.
Nonetheless, it appears that Trump views China as one of the greatest violators of an unfair trading relationship with the United States.
