The superstar singer was distraught when she was subpoenaed as a witness in the lawsuit, according to a report published by DailyMail.com last week.
Swift, 35, is said to have been ‘totally astonished’ by the legal escalation and is now’very angry’ despite putting on a brave front in Philadelphia this weekend, reportedly attending a Mother’s Day meal with her boyfriend Travis Kelce and their respective mothers.
The fact that she feels deceived and ‘exploited’ by her longtime friend Lively is another reason.
Lively, 37, was one of Swift’s closest confidantes until this year.
Swift is the godmother of Lively’s three daughters, and they reside in the hip Tribeca neighborhood of New York, which is conveniently close to one another.
However, things took a turn for the worst in December when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, who was both her co-star and director in the film adaptation of the well-known Colleen Hoover book, It Ends With Us.
The following month, when Baldoni filed a countersuit accusing Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, 48, of defamation, Swift was dragged into the mix.
Baldoni’s filing included screenshots of emails and texts that named Swift; in one particularly awkward exchange, Lively is said to have referred to Swift as one of her “dragons” and to herself as Khaleesi, a character from Games of Thrones. Baldoni also claimed that Swift attended a crucial meeting regarding the film that Lively and Reynolds held at their penthouse in New York, where she merely showed up to find the meeting in progress and had no involvement.
