The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be the first time that transgender swimmer Lia Thomas will take use of the opportunity for female athletes.
The biological male who won a woman’s championship in 2022 while swimming for Peοο, Thomas, has officially lost a legal battle against World AqŅatics. Thomas claimed that his baÿ oÿ competition against a woman was “i¿valid aÿd υÿlawfυl.”
In the summer of 2022, the 25-year-old was banned from swimming in the women’s division when the sport’s governing board banned a girl who had a ptergoid that was “a part of male puberty” from competing against biological girls.
The decision by the council to uphold the role keepi Thomas of the women’s pool was praised by world arithmetic experts, who referred to it as “a major step forward i¿ oŅr efforts to protect women’s sports.”
