A Pattern of Violence and Injustice
Mexico has long been plagued by machismo and violence against women, which can range from street harassment to, in its most extreme form, acid attacks and brutal slayings. These incidents often result in legal battles, gender-based claims, and even international human rights advocacy.
Marquez’s callous killing is also the latest in a spate of cartel violence that has claimed the life of three other Mexican influencers — incidents that not only shock but also impact public healthcare resource planning, mortuary costs, and civil litigation cases.
