Mia Love, the first Black Republican Representative, passed away.

 

She avoided Donald Trump, who was unpopular with many Utah voters, throughout his presidential campaign in the run-up to the 2016 election,

Instead, she supported Ted Cruz, a senator from Texas, in the GOP campaign, but he left months later. Love attempted to distance herself from Trump on immigration and trade.

While supporting her party’s tax-cutting stances in her 2018 run for a third term. However, she lost by less than 700 votes to Democrat Ben McAdams,
