The other identified victim was Daniel Williams, a drummer and former member of the Ohio-based metal band The Devil Wears Prada.
Williams’ former bandmates paid tribute on social media, saying, “No words. We owe you everything. Love you forever.”
The crash caused significant destruction, with numerous homes and vehicles catching fire. Eight residents were hospitalized with smoke inhalation and other non-life-threatening injuries.
San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl described the aftermath as “pretty horrific” with jet fuel flowing down streets and multiple fires erupting simultaneously.
He called it “a bit of a miracle” that no one on the ground lost their lives. An official investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
