The individual monitoring the security system was deeply concerned by what was seen and shared the footage with the RSPCA, an organization focused on animal protection and welfare.
Because the security camera recorded the troubling treatment of Rudy, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, by Cheslin, the court was presented with clear and reliable evidence.
Prosecutor Sarah Pratt explained that a veterinary examination revealed Rudy had two missing front teeth, which was consistent with what had been observed in the elevator footage. However, that wasn’t the only issue noted.
Rudy was also found to have burst blood vessels in his eyes, which experts believe may have resulted from trauma to the head.
In a separate concerning incident, Cheslin had reportedly acted inappropriately toward a young puppy named John, who was in his and his partner’s care.
