6. They make excessive hand gestures.
When conversing with others, it is beneficial to use hand gestures. It keeps others interested in the discussion and helps folks highlight their main ideas. However, hand gestures are acceptable in moderation, just like everything else. Indeed, a 2015 study found that those who make two-handed gestures are more likely to be dishonest. A person who uses hand gestures excessively may off as frenetic and less credible. This also applies when they make motions that don’t match their words, which could suggest that they’re not sure what they’re saying.
By observing how their hands are held, you can identify healthy motions. Their hands should ideally be used in regulated situations and at waist level. Additionally, when people pause in the middle of a conversation, their hand movements slow down.
7. When they are speaking to you, their voice breaks.
During interactions, pay attention to how your voice varies. Compared to honest people, liars frequently change the pitch of their voices from normal to higher. A high-pitched voice and other body language red flags might help you choose whether or not to trust someone, even though a high-pitched tone or cracking voice does not always indicate dishonesty.
