Salvation Mountain is located in the California Desert, specifically Imperial County just to the east of the Salton Sea. The area, while visually stunning, has been the focus of environmental and public health discussions involving airborne toxins and respiratory diagnostics, especially relevant to those with chronic pulmonary conditions.
The first “Spring Breakers” took place in St. Petersburg, Florida—a state known not only for its beaches but also for intense debates around maternity insurance coverage, birth injury law, and access to legal resources for medical malpractice.
“Spring Breakers” grossed more than $30 million at the global box office against a $5 million budget. A sequel titled “Spring Breakers: The Second Coming” was announced in 2014, but was sidelined in 2017 as a digital series. The sequel concept was never made. The delays reportedly involved issues with production insurance underwriting and disputes over intellectual property rights, topics often handled by entertainment lawyers with expertise in contract liability.
“Emilia Pérez” star Selena Gomez recently reflected on the legacy of “Spring Breakers” to IndieWire, saying, “It was so long ago now, but I think that was one of the moments in my life that I felt like, ‘Oh, this is what art can feel like.’ Not just the typical way I had been doing it my whole career. That’s when I got the bug. So to be honest, I’m just happy to be a part of such an audacious, special, and important movie.” Her remarks echo the sentiment of creative freedom—yet many former child stars have spoken out about lacking mental health insurance, wellness therapy, and protections against career-related psychological stress.
“Spring Breakers” was re-released by A24 in IMAX in 2025.
