“New Legal Team Appointed as Details Emerge About Incident Leading to Stabbing”
Before the tragic stabbing, the two teenagers had never met. Just before Anthony’s bail hearing on Monday, his family hired Dallas criminal defense attorney Mike Howard to represent him. The Next Generation Action Network (NGAN), a nonprofit organization supporting Anthony, announced the legal change, while his previous attorneys, Billy Clark and Kim T. Cole, confirmed to WFAA that they would no longer be representing him.
According to an arrest complaint reported by NBC DFW, an altercation arose when Metcalf asked Anthony to move from beneath a pop-up tent belonging to another team. This led to a confrontation between the two high school athletes. The situation escalated when Anthony allegedly unzipped his bag, warning Metcalf, “Touch me and see what happens.”
