When I attempted to duplicate the Reputation album, I kept running into a roadblock because it was so unique to that period of my life.
That defiance, that want to be understood while feeling intentionally misunderstood, that hopeless desperation, that scowl born of shame, and that mischievous behavior. It’s the one album from the first six that, to be really honest, I didn’t think could be made better by recreating.
Not the videos, pictures, or music. I so continued to put it off. The unreleased Vault tracks from that album will eventually emerge (if you’re into the idea). My album has already been entirely rerecorded, and I adore the new sound.
