A search is cancelled after a man slips overboard on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship bound for the Bahamas.

The search for a 51-year-old man who fell overboard on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship Thursday has been cancelled by authorities.

The cruise company told USA TODAY that the guy, who was with his family, slid over the side at around 3 p.m. when the ship was cruising from Ocho Rios,

Jamaica to Nassau, Bahamas. In order for the ship to continue its journey, a rescue attempt was eventually cancelled.

“The guest was travelling with a large group and his family on board is being attended to and supported during this very challenging situation,” a Norwegian Cruise Line representative.
