A car crashes into a crowd in New Orleans on New Year’s Eve, killing at least ten people.

 

A representative for the New Orleans Police Department told CBS News. Deaths have been recorded, but injuries remain unclear.

According to witnesses who spoke to CBS News, a truck crashed into a crowd before the driver got out and brandished a weapon. Then there were reports of gunfire coming from the area.

While in New Orleans, Jim and Nicole Mowrer reported seeing a vehicle smash through a barrier. “We were pretty, pretty close to where it started,” they told the site.

“We did hear gunfire after it passed us, and we saw police rushing in that direction.” “Once the gunfire stopped, we stayed in the alcove until the gunfire stopped,

Came out into the street, and came across a lot of – several people who had been hit, [we] wanted to see what we could do to help.”
