A representative for the New Orleans Police Department told CBS News. Deaths have been recorded, but injuries remain unclear.
According to witnesses who spoke to CBS News, a truck crashed into a crowd before the driver got out and brandished a weapon. Then there were reports of gunfire coming from the area.
While in New Orleans, Jim and Nicole Mowrer reported seeing a vehicle smash through a barrier. “We were pretty, pretty close to where it started,” they told the site.
A horrific act of violence took place on Bourbon Street earlier this morning.
Please join Sharon and I in praying for all the victims and first responders on scene.
I urge all near the scene to avoid the area.

“We did hear gunfire after it passed us, and we saw police rushing in that direction.” “Once the gunfire stopped, we stayed in the alcove until the gunfire stopped,
Came out into the street, and came across a lot of – several people who had been hit, [we] wanted to see what we could do to help.”
