A car crashes into a crowd in New Orleans on New Year’s Eve, killing at least ten people.

 

Speaking on the event, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry wrote on X: “Earlier this morning, a horrifying act of violence occurred on Bourbon Street.

“Please join Sharon and myself in offering up prayers for all of the victims and emergency personnel present. “I urge all near the scene to avoid the area.”

Although the exact number of deaths is yet unclear, it is thought that at least ten individuals have perished in the tragedy. At least thirty people have been hurt in the meantime.

Several victims are seen in videos going viral on social media receiving on-the-ground medical attention for their wounds, while others are being taken to five nearby hospitals:

University Medical Centre, Touro Hospital, East Jefferson General Hospital, Ochsner Medical Centre Jefferson Campus, and Ochsner Baptist Campus.

While investigations are being conducted, authorities are now cautioning the public to avoid the area.
