A search is cancelled after a man slips overboard on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship bound for the Bahamas.

 

The Norwegian Epic left Canaveral, Florida, on Saturday and is now in the middle of a seven-night Western Caribbean excursion. Authorities were alerted and a search was launched.

Under the direction of the Bahamas Rescue Coordination Centre when cruise personnel discovered that the guy had gone over the edge, the cruise company told USA TODAY.

The person was wearing a blue shirt, according to onboard announcements, and several passengers helped in the search and posted updates on social media.

According to Cruise Hive, the adjacent Holland America Line ship Zuiderdam also participated in the search.

According to a statement from Norwegian Cruise Line, “the ship was released by the authorities after an extensive search.

That was unfortunately unsuccessful.” The reason the guy went overboard was not immediately apparent. The man’s identity is unknown.
