After reportedly being set on fire by a guy on a NYC train, a woman passes away.

At a news conference, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said, “The suspect had remained on the scene and was sitting on a bench on the platform just outside.

The train car, unknown to the responding officers.” “The responding officers’ body-worn cameras provided a very clear, detailed view of the murderer.”

After escaping the scene, the suspect was caught about eight hours later at the Manhattan station located at 34th Street–Herald Square.

Officers used publicly available photographs, such as surveillance photos and body camera video, to identify him. Later that day, a group of high school students identified the culprit and called the police.

NYPD Chief of Transit Joseph Gulotta said, “Our officers in District Two stopped that train in Herald Square, and [were] able to keep the doors closed, walk the train, and place this very dangerous individual in custody.”
