Days before to the holidays, New York Governor Kathy Hochul had announced increased subway safety measures.
These include installing security cameras in every subway vehicle and sending 250 more National Guard personnel into action.
Hochul’s office said the “brutal murder” was seen on one of these cameras, adding that there has been a 42% decrease in subway crime since January 2021 and a 10% decrease since May.
Violence in Subways Is a Concern The terrible incident on Sunday was the second subway fatality of the day.
A guy was tragically stabbed and another was wounded on a southbound 7 train in Queens at around 12:35 AM.
