Alfa Anderson, a stylish lead vocalist best known for the disco classics “Good Times” and “Le Freak,” passes away.

 

She later made an appearance on the band’s first album, which charted Dance, Dance, Dance, and Everybody Dance, both of which were number one hits.

After Norma Jean Wright departed a year later, she became one of the main vocalists. The band thereafter had major singles,

Including Good Times, Le Freak (1978), and My Forbidden Lover (1979). Alfa worked on Chic-produced sessions of Diana Ross and Sister Sledge singles and made appearances.

On many TV programs at the band’s peak of popularity, such as Top of the Pops. In 1983, the band’s founders, Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, broke up the original Chic.

Alfa later toured the world with Luther Vandross throughout the 1980s. With new band members, Chic has now re-established itself and has gone on tour recently.
