Eddie Stobart, the founder of a well-known trucking company, passed away, according to his representatives this morning.

In 1946, Mr. Stobart, whose full name was Eddie Pears Stobart, first established a modest agricultural company that supplied fertilizer and performed contract work for farmers.

He also operated a farm store. Later in the 1940s, the company changed its name to the family-run trucking company, and in 1960.

Its first truck—a used Guy Invincible four-wheeler—hit the highways of the United Kingdom. When the vehicle was first introduced, the little business had just eight trucks and twelve workers.

It was painted in the iconic green and red of Eddie Stobart. Although he led a corporation that today owns and runs over 2,500 cars.

Mr. Stobart passed away on November 25 at the age of 95. Over the last several decades, he has been less involved in the company.
