Before Donald Trump becomes president on January 20, 2025, the DOJ lawyer who oversaw the prosecution of more than 1,500 Jan. 6 defendants is scheduled to resign.
Matthew Graves, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, announced Monday that he would step down on January 16.
According to his office, under Graves, 1,572 suspects were charged with offences connected to their presence in the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
In a statement released on Monday, Graves said, “Being the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia has been the honour of a lifetime.”
“I am incredibly grateful to Attorney General Garland for believing in me, to President Biden for nominating me,
