Republican members said the Biden administration and legislative Democrats wanted to utilise the supplementary cash to employ about 90,000 IRS officers.

A September Treasury Department inspector general (IG) report on the status of the IRS’ additional financing said that as of June, the agency employed over 15,000 enforcement officers.

According to several White House remarks, the IRS asserts that a significant amount of the additional funds was used to strengthen.

When Treasury Secretary Janet Yellan spoke before the House Ways and Means Committee in March 2023, she did not refute the fact that over 90% of IRS audits carried out with the supplementary funds would look at those earning less than $400,000.

The IRS said in November 2023 that it would postpone new reporting regulations on business transactions using third-party payment applications like Venmo and Cash App.
