Biden spent $80,000,000,000 to enforce the IRS. Half of it has already been revoked by Congress.

In January 2023, Republican legislators moved to revoke this IRS enforcement money, and in a party-line vote,

The House passed rescission legislation. Chuck Schumer, the Democratic Majority Leader, ordered the Senate to not consider the measure.

Even though they voted overwhelmingly in favour of the CR, several Democratic members expressed concern that the December temporary funding package will revoke IRS funding once again.

Because they understood that voting for more IRS financing is “political poison,” Democratic members did not see the CR’s inclusion of language requiring a retraction of IRS extra funding as a dealbreaker, Kartch told the DCNF.

Kartch told the DCNF, “It’s interesting that the Democrats normally wouldn’t want to agree to do that, but they couldn’t fight that.”

“You’re really going to vote for it a second, third, or fourth time? It’s bad enough that they [Democratic lawmakers] voted once to increase funding for the IRS.”
