Despite health issues, including a 2015 cancer diagnosis, he continued to be involved in public life long into his 90s.
Carter decided to spend his last days at home with his loved ones after entering hospice care in February 2023. Rosalynn Carter, his wife of 77 years, died in November 2023 at the age of 96.
