The beauty pageant competitor said that she suffers from polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). This disease is characterized by the ovaries producing more androgens than the average woman produces.
PCOS may cause weight gain, irregular menstruation, acne, and excessive hair growth, among other symptoms.
In addition, she said, “that’s also really taken a toll on my mental health and my self-esteem because I thought that I wasn’t good enough or that I wasn’t beautiful enough.”
She said that she had lately acquired a lot of weight as a result of her ailment. Garrett, however, went through a process of developing a good outlook and learning to be comfortable with who she is.
It’s clear from seeing her exude confidence on stage that she has made it through this process of self-acceptance.
