She revealed while discussing the extensive airbrushing she had to endure. This incident is reflected in the song “Powerless,” which she published in 2003 as part of her Folklore album.

Having Portuguese ancestry, Furtado previously revealed, “I guess I was kind of angry about it by my second album.” She is thankful for her journey and does not harbor resentment in spite of these difficulties.
She attributes her development of assertiveness and the direction she needed to succeed in the field to her committed team and strong familial support.
