As part of the long speech, he brought Corey Comperatore’s (a 50-year-old fireman from Sarver) uniform to the podium and gently kissed the helmet in respect of the victim of the shooting.
He made the statement, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for others,” in reference to the fact that Comperatore was protecting his loved ones when he was attacked.
“This is the spirit that forged America in her darkest hours, and this is the love that will lead America back to the summit of human achievement and greatness.”
