A state prisoner was fatally beaten this month by correctional officers who repeatedly kicked and punched him.

While he was shackled on an infirmary bed, according to body camera video published by the attorney general’s office in New York on Friday.

State Attorney General Letitia James is looking into the event, which has angered political figures and was called “incomprehensible” by the officers’ union.

A day after the assault on December 9, the 43-year-old prisoner, Robert Brooks, passed away in the hospital.

James said at a virtual press conference, “I do not take lightly the release of this video, especially in the middle of the holiday season.” She went on to say, “These videos are shocking and disturbing.”
