When an Instagram user posed the question, “8-day mission that’s turned into months long and they’ve somehow got Christmas hats?” others rushed to express their enthusiasm and perplexity.
“Where did the Santa hats come from if they’ve been stuck up there for months and only planned a short trip?” someone asked in a remark. It seems strange not to have on hand.
“How do people not realise there are resupply missions and they’ve probably had those up there?” said one observer.
“Easy answer – the hats were already there,” said one observer. The ISS is not brand-new. For over 30 years, it has remained in orbit and constantly inhabited.
Another wrote: “Perhaps you’ll receive your presents first because you’re closer to the North Pole than we are.”
