The FBI says that the suspect in the terrorist incident in New Orleans that claimed the lives of at least ten people was flagged by ISIS.

According to the report, Jabbar was operating a Ford pickup truck “which appears to have been rented” and the bureau is investigating how he obtained the vehicle.

It went on to say, as the BBC reported: “An ISIS flag was located in the vehicle and the FBI is working to determine the subject’s potential associations and affiliations with terrorist organisations.”

Additionally, it said that the truck had firearms and a possible IED (improvised explosive device), and that “other potential IEDs were also located in the French Quarter.”

“The FBI’s Special Agent Bomb Technicians are working with our law enforcement partners to determine if any of these devices are viable and they will work to render those devices safe,” it said.

Following the disaster, US President Joe Biden released a statement in which he expressed his gratitude for local law enforcement’s courageous and prompt reaction in averting.
