The “loneliest gorilla in the world” will spend her 41st Christmas in a zoo cage in a retail center.

“The owner bought Bua Noi before laws were introduced to prevent the trade and ownership of endangered animals and wild animals.”

The director of Pata Zoo said that criticism of the gorilla’s welfare “doesn’t concern me” in order to justify the handling of the animal.

Kanit Sermsirimongkol said, “Those people assume she’s depressed because they saw her picture online.”

However, she has a similar appearance to other people—some have joyful faces, while others have sad ones. Bua Noi has been treated by us as if she were our own daughter.

“I know that we will have to find her a suitable new home one day but it’s not a good idea to immediately release her back into the wild without teaching her how to survive on her own.”
