But that she was “all tail wags” when she was brought to shore, indicating that she was very appreciative of those who had rescued her.
No one knows where Dorothea came from or how she got into that canal. Neither of these things are known.
A medical evaluation was performed on Dorothea by American Humane Society veterinarians. She was found to be thirsty, famished, and covered in ticks; yet, happily, she only had a few minor injuries.
The American condition Service (AHS) said that she was “otherwise in great health given the circumstances.” Additional dental procedure was necessary for her to have several shattered teeth removed.
According to the Arizona Humane Society, Dorothea’s personality started to develop significantly once she was placed in a secure environment and received the necessary love and care.
“Dorothea was found to be a sweet, loving girl who enjoyed cuddles and attention from humans,” the humane society noted in a news release.
