According to CBS News, Fort Worth mayor Mattie Parker has said that the city is providing grieving and mental health counseling to anybody who may have been impacted by Dukic’s death.
Lazar Đukić, a renowned Serbian CrossFit athlete, is tragically presumed to have passed away at the 2024 CrossFit Games after disappearing under the water approximately 100 meters from the finish line.

“We are profoundly saddened by the tragic loss of a CrossFit athlete during a CrossFit Games swimming event this morning,” Parker stated yesterday in a statement.
“Our hearts go out to the athlete’s family, friends, and the entire CrossFit community.” Starting at 10am local time, a unique homage honoring Dukic will be held at Dickies Arena to kick off today’s athletic activities.
