With a new regulation, Labour opens the door to prohibiting donations from Musk.

With new legislation, the government has made it possible to stop Elon Musk from giving millions of pounds to Reform UK.

The House of Commons’ leader, Lucy Powell, proposed that the changes might be a component of government initiatives to strengthen regulations pertaining to political contributions.

Mr. Musk, a tech billionaire and close friend of Donald Trump, is actively exploring making a sizable donation to his party, according to a recent revelation by Reform leader Nigel Farage.

The amount may be around $100 million (£78.8 million), according to certain rumors.

Since then, pressure has mounted on Labour to enact new regulations quickly that would restrict the amount of money that foreigners can donate to British political parties via their UK-based businesses.

Ms. Powell responded that there were no “immediate plans” to amend the law to prevent Mr. Musk from giving significant sums of money to Reform when asked on Sunday if the government would do so.
