In the meanwhile, The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, a charity that supports people with food allergies in the UK, said on Instagram:

“This is another young kid who died from a food allergy that shouldn’t have occurred. We have had the opportunity to meet Mia’s parents on many times, and we are very saddened by their loss.

“All café and food businesses must take seriously the regulations around allergy safety, which are in place to safeguard those who have food allergies.

Food allergies are a severe medical issue that may be deadly for some people, not a personal preference or decision.

Although the cafe’s fines and community service are “welcome,” the organization went on to say that it does not think the sentence “reflect[s] the gravity of what happened to Mia.”
