When responding to what seemed to be a gang heist, the officers were “ambushed,” according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, who called the incident a “targeted attack.”

According to the police, the attackers are part of Los Diablos de 42, a faction of the Tren de Aragua gang.
Officers were able to swiftly identify them after the attack because several of them are listed in the NYPD’s gang database.
In response to accusations that the suspects are too young to face harsh punishment, Mayor Eric Adams denounced the incident.
“Being a victim of a crime is already horrifying,” Adams stated during a press conference on Tuesday.
