A 13-year-old boy uses a gadget that his mom bought him for $3 to thwart a kidnapper.

As Owen Burns made his way home from school one typical day, he suddenly heard his sister screaming. Despite his initial assumption that her cries for assistance were harmless, he eventually became angered by the intrusion they caused.

Looking out his window startled him, but he got over his astonishment fast enough to make a choice that saved lives.

As Owen Burns settled down to play his beloved PlayStation 3 game “Call of Duty: Black Ops II,” he suddenly heard his sister’s cries coming from outside their yard. The irritated thirteen-year-old mistook her for a game and grew angry.

Shortly after, the adolescent peered out his bedroom window to see an unknown somebody attempting to heft his younger sister, who was eight years old, into the nearby woods that bordered their residence.

The frightened adolescent snatched up a stone and a rock, the only nearby targets he could locate, and loaded his slingshot. Aiming straight at the abductor, he struck him in the face.
