A jury in Johnston County found her guilty. Prosecutors claimed that Hatfield served as a childcare provider, thus on the 25th of the month, an enhanced sentence was negotiated.
Hatfield allegedly entered a not guilty plea, claiming she had not physically hurt Kingston and was not accountable for any of his injuries, either immediate or long-term.
Kingston had to be sent to the hospital after only six hours at the daycare, despite the fact that there was still proof that he was completely healthy when he was initially dropped off in the morning.
There has been no known motive for the abuse.
