Children at Gabriel’s apartment complex had to cross a drainage canal to get to their bus stop, according to locals. The region had been inundated that morning.
The local community and school were shocked and saddened by the news of his passing. Kasey Swails, Gabriel’s teacher, said on social media,

Kasey explained Gabriel’s significance to her pupils in a different way. “The people I work with in my classroom are my favorite aspect of being a teacher.
