After winning the mountain bike event, British rider Tom Pidcock secured the second gold medal for Team GB at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
But there were some jeers directed at the cyclist as he crossed the finish line to win the competition for the second time in a row at the Olympics.
After leading the race for eight circuits, Pidcock had a puncture on the fourth, putting him 40 seconds behind France’s top rider, Victor Koretzky. This was almost disastrous for Pidcock.
In an incredible return, the British rider managed to recapture the lead he had lost by pedaling as if his life depended on it.
Pidcock and Koretzky were getting close on the final straight, and when the British rider tried to pass, it seemed as if their motorcycles’ wheels had made contact.
