A California mother left her daughter in a submerged car and returned home to take a bath.

A young mother is accused of crashing her automobile into a canal while intoxicated, then running away and taking a bath, leaving her toddler daughter to drown in her overturned vehicle.

Following the March 8 murder of her 4-year-old daughter Reagan Herrin, Juliette Acosta, 26, is facing charges of murder and other offenses.

About 11 p.m., police claimed she was driving up an embankment and into the irrigation canal while swerving her Subaru SUV all over the road and sideswiping a pole.

After hearing the collision in Hickman, California, which is close to Modesto, her uncle managed to get Acosta from the vehicle, but he was unable to free the young child, who was stuck in her car seat.

Police claimed that while Acosta was “taking a bath” in a hotel room after escaping the scene, her “daughter remained in peril at the crash scene.”

With the assistance of Acosta’s uncle, who had scaled the car, a California Highway Patrol officer eventually dragged Reagan out of the vehicle.
