A father in Connecticut is accused of using a baseball bat to kill his 12-year-old son after hearing voices.

Esposito Jr. allegedly stated that he wished for “it to end quick” in order to save his son’s suffering.

Esposito Jr. killed his son and then went to pick up his daughter, according to the arrest report. Esposito Jr. allegedly told her that her brother was downstairs when she inquired about him.

Investigators said Esposito Jr. shoved the girl down the stairs after she approached them. The girl managed to get away, but police think he would have killed her too if he had taken the bat.

Esposito Jr. is charged with both criminal attempt to commit murder and murder under extraordinary circumstances. He is still under a $3 million bond.

In a message to the community, Branford Public Schools superintendent Christopher Tranberg allegedly stated, “We extend our deepest sympathies to all those affected.”
