According to the Union-Tribune, Ma claimed, “I lied to their faces while secretly abusing their sons.” “I simply pray for additional strength and protection for everyone impacted.”
The District Attorney’s Office claims that Ma gave the boys toys, food, and extra care, even going so far as to finish their schoolwork for them.
In court, the judge characterized her conduct as a “prolonged pattern of child sexual abuse” rather than a “single lapse of judgement.”
But he pointed out that even though the abuse was obvious, Ma was protected from criticism due to her reputation as an award-winning educator, according to the Union-Tribune.
“This isn’t just a one-day accident, mistake, bad judgment, or evil act,” Judge Enrique Camarena of Chula Vista Superior Court stated.
