Christy Hall, the film’s credited screenwriter, disclosed to the Hollywood Reporter at the same event that the rooftop scene was the most challenging for her to write.
I must mention that Colleen’s writing was impeccable. I regret that I was unable to incorporate it directly from the pages into the film; however, it is somewhat lengthy for the purposes of film.
Christy stated in a subsequent interview with People that she was unaware of Ryan’s involvement in the scene and
that he may have been responsible for “a couple of little things” that she had observed in the final version and had believed to have been improvised during filming.
“There were a few minor flourishes that I did not compose; however, I presumed that they had been improvised on the set,” she detailed.
